About Us
Angie
Angie grew up in Oroville, CA with her family. She attended local elementary, junior high, and high schools. Angie was very involved at the Oroville Church of the Nazarene in the youth group there. She loved people from the beginning. Angie graduated from Las Plumas High School in 2004 and went on to attend Butte College and work as the Junior High Youth Intern at the church for a year. This is when Angie fell in love with the community of Oroville and the teenagers in it. Angie transferred to Point Loma Nazarene University, her dream school, in San Diego, CA in the fall of 2005. There she majored in Psychology and met God and life face to face through her friend’s, fellow students, and changes at home.
Angie graduated in 2008 with her BA in Psychology and moved back to the small town where her heart was. Leaving her Loma friends behind was one of the hardest things she has ever done, but Angie wanted to help bring hope to Oroville, through the teenagers there, and knew that this is what God had been preparing her for. There Angie found her niche in the field of Social Work as a Case Manager for pregnant and parenting teenagers. Angie loves her job. She says that it is the hardest thing she has ever done, but the best.
The last thing that Angie anticipated experiencing in her small town was Love. At the end of the year 2008, Angie was pleasantly surprised when, Jason Merino, whom she had known almost all of her life and been in love with for about a year, came home from Point Loma and everything changed. Angie discovered that Jason had recently been feeling the same way that she had, and was ready to begin what they now know will be a lifetime of togetherness.
Jason
Jason also grew up and attended the same elementary school, junior high school and high school as Angie. He loved going to church and being involved in the youth group, learning and growing with his peers. In 2003 he graduated high school and moved down to San Diego to further his education at Point Loma Nazarene University. After changing his major a few times he came to finish a degree in Christian Ministries. He graduated in December of 2008 and moved back to Oroville.
In the months leading up to graduation he came to realize what an important part of his life Angie is and how much she means to him. Upon moving back to Oroville he found that Angie had been feeling the same way for quite some time. He came to find that his relationship with Angie was becoming deeper than he could have ever imagined as he grew closer and closer to her. He is excied to see what the future holds because it is unpredictible and anything is possible, but most importantly, because he gets to experience it with Angie by his side.
